Shorcan’s continuing commitment to innovation dates to our founding as the first Inter-Dealer Broker (IDB) in Canada. We were the first to offer anonymity between trading partners and the first to codify trading rules. The rules we drafted were later adopted as the regulations to govern the entire industry.

In 1979, Shorcan was also the first IDB to install trading screens on client desks. Since then, we have developed four distinct and proprietary trading systems, each offering clients a more efficient, effective and actionable flow of market information.

Shorcan first introduced the team approach to account management in 2000, consistently applying it ever since. The result – a dramatically improved corporate culture, an increased depth of client knowledge and enhanced client service. 

In 2004, Shorcan was the first and only IDB to offer straight through processing, perhaps the single greatest innovation in process efficiency since the deployment of screen technology.
